Yushu, a place had suffered earthquake during April 2010, has delayed their reconstruction progress due to the winter (-20°C to -30°C) that lasts for 6 months. Until now (February 2011), he who is paralyzed after the earthquake still needs help to adapt to new life; he who is injured still needs regular treatments; he who has lost most of the money still needs to learn the way to support their family; the children who have become the orphans also need help to continue their studies. Due to all these, HELP students has established Yushu Fundraising Program to raise fund for Yushu victims. The drawings from the kids in Yushu have been compiled into album and part of drawings was being used in designing the T-shirts, which are part of the fundraising items. The funds will be used to buy medicine, daily necessities, winter clothes as well as school equipment. In this album, along with the children’s drawings, the stories of volunteers’ experiences will be shared with you. Album and T-shirt costs RM30 each; donations are also welcomed.

Below is the account, the profit had been sent to Yushu by January 2011.

Words for the Album from Dr. Rachel Ting
Many artists dream to succeed and be famous with their art pieces, however, not many have their dreams come true. Even Vincent Van Gogh himself, whose artwork only become famous after he died. It isn’t a disaster which destroys our inner strength, but the indifference and ignorance towards the disaster. Fortunately, a group of students’ volunteers from the HELP psychology program contributed their time and energy to the people from the earthquake in Yushu, Qinghai that happened on April 14, 2010. During the second half of 2010, their lives changed; some volunteered at the earthquake zone, some raised funds. These students joined and shared the difficulties and hardships of the people in Yushu. Perhaps we wouldn’t be able to understand their pain in losing their loved ones completely, but we were able to share the happiness and sense of warmth we brought from Malaysia. This drawing album came by an opportunity, from the trust and love of the children in Yushu, with the student volunteers. I consider this is their fate that may come by chance but not by diligent search. We were tremendously blessed to be able to meet and be with the people of Yushu, and we would like to share this blessing with you, the Good Samaritan who now holds this album. I hereby hope that this album which filled with the drawings of hope, vitality and Tibetan’s culture will pleasantly surprise you.
